About Your Guide

Your Tour Guide, Colman O'Reilly

Colman O’Reilly is a licensed New York City tour guide, and native New Yorker. Ever since he was a kid growing up in New York and visiting his family in Ireland over the summer, he has found himself fascinated by history and culture. This infatuation drove him to earn a bachelor’s degree in history from SUNY Binghamton in 1998.

After graduation, Colman’s passion called him to explore the history and culture of other parts of the world. He spent time traveling, living and working in places like Argentina, Spain, California, Australia and the Caribbean, until 2001 when he returned to New York City with the desire to share his gift for history as a tour guide in the city that never sleeps.

As a licensed tour guide, Colman has certified knowledge about all parts of New York City, and his specialty is lower Manhattan. For example, he is an Irish immigration history expert and can utilize this knowledge on his tours of the Irish Hunger Memorial. He’s worked in the city for over a decade, and brings a compelling perspective to the 9/11 Memorial.
